[MPlayer-users] DVD VobSub subtitle position extraction for WebVTT

Greetings,

I'm looking for commentary or advice about the X,Y position of VobSub
subtitle images in a DVD subtitle stream.

I'm currently extracting the VobSub files (IDX and SUB) via mencoder and
using vobsub2srt to perform the OCR on the images and get textual output.

It appears WebVTT has support [0] for positioning the cues. It would be
nice to not lose the information about subtitle text positioning when
making the conversion from VobSub to SRT, and eventually WebVTT.

Does anyone have commentary or advice on extracting the VobSub positioning
for consumption? Has anyone ever used the positioning in an external
program?
