Hi I am sure the answer to this is buried deep in the archives, but I
have no idea how to search these if you don't know when they were posted!

I am looking fora detailed guide on how to use the -wid option, the
documentation seems delightfully vague.  It refers to  filling a
previously created frame, which is what I want to do, but what is the
syntax, and how is it linked to the particular frame?

Thanks

In short: You create an X11 window (which has a window ID) and start mplayer
giving it that very window ID. It will play in your X11 window.
